Community Engagement 101

An email sent today to the Mayor and council of the Village of Chase, B.C. …
Dear Mayor Anderson and council members,
I understand promotion of public events at the Chase Community Hall is primarily the responsibility of those hosting the event, but it would be helpful if the information was also available on the Village of Chase website.
Perhaps an online calendar could be used for bookings? Enter the data into the calendar, generate a report for staff use, create a backup, etc… Such calendars are easy to use and most include options for choosing which events to publish.
Wedding reception: Check the box that says “private”…it’s not published.
Public information session re: highway upgrades: check the box that says “public”…it is published.
The calendar could then be subscribed to by email or RSS feed or simply accessed online.
